Alfred Charles Havell has gained renown for his expertise in depicting horses and sporting scenes.

This is evident in the painting currently featured in our collection, capturing the bold essence of a hunt. The composition is heightened by the inclusion of numerous foxhounds, intensifying the anticipation within the scene.

The painting's perfect balance in composition is particularly appealing to us, making it an exciting piece suitable for various settings, including offices, drawing rooms, or hallways.

Alfred was a member of the Havell family of painters with roots in Reading, although he himself was born in Chelsea and passed away in 1928.

While his father, Edmund Havell Junior, was recognized as Queen Victoria’s portraitist, Alfred chose to deviate from tradition, focusing primarily on the art of painting horses.
